Named after the golden section, the Phi bass is designed using the phi ratio (golden mean) in proportion to the bass scale length. Centuries ago, Phi was used in perfecting the design of the violin family of instruments, including the upright bass. Harkening back to the age of Old World luthiers, the Phi bass brings with it a resurgence of the endeavors to build an instrument that can harness the full potential of sonic energy pulsing through it. The Phi offers the full palette of bass tones, from rumbling lows to transparent highs.

Artists currently playing the Phi:

Aston Barrett Jr. (Famz Jr.) of the Wailers (4 string Rasta Phi model)

Nick Daniels III of Dumpstaphunk (5 string custom)
